Residents enjoyed Halloween based word games, a quiz and we conversed about Halloween superstitions and traditions. Residents got into the festive spirit and carved out a pumpkin. It was very messy work! Spiders were crafted from small plastic cups and hung from the ceiling.

The pinatas that were made on Mexican Independence Day were finally decorated in the style of ghoulish Halloween creatures and residents took turns at hitting it and collecting the hidden lollies.

The Mexican Catholic interpretation of the piñata rested on the struggle of man against temptation and the seven deadly sins. The pot represents evil and the seasonal fruit and candy inside the temptations of evil. The person with the stick is blindfolded to represent faith.
A fortune telling table was set up with a crystal ball, so residents could have their fortunes told! The staff looked the part wearing their costumes.
